It's Getting Hot in Here...

Image
So if you're not from Florida, IT'S HOT HERE AGAIN! Which is most of the year...and some people (like Lauren) love this, but I (Nicole) enjoy the summer and the warmth but still kinda wish it was cold. This change in weather is starting to make us think  a lot about summer and how desperate we are for it, but also how sweaty our workouts are about to become. Take today for example... we always run the trails on Sunday. It was nice and breezy until we got out there...that's when the wind died and the humidity seemed to set in. If you've never actually seen a hot mess, just look at us after that workout! Nicole (a few months ago) Lauren (a few months ago) Monday was flippin' awesome because we got to flip some tires and we love that. 😍 Like the trail, it's one of our dirtier workouts, which always make us happy! We also apologize for the crazy ass tan lines we will have by summer. It's just the name of the game at this point. We did a lot ...

The Struggle is Real

This past week has been one of the most rewarding and most challenging thus far. We've struggled with cravings (PIZZA and WINE turn us on), sore muscles (the worst since the beginning) and simply finding the time to accomplish everything we need to and still be standing at the end. On the flip side, we hit some pretty significant weight goals (officially down 49 lbs and 37 lbs), we finally won at BINGO and we were actually able to jog the whole trail today between stations! We've managed with the cravings much better than to be expected...but pizza and wine remain. We get over it though...Lauren's students had a pizza party and cupcakes, and my students had an ice-cream party this week. As teachers we are constantly offered things by students, teachers, and parents. We've learned to nicely accept their gifts and quickly give them away. I did receive some farm fresh eggs recently from a student with chickens... those I kept, because eggs are life. 😁Although we still h...

Turning Can'ts into Cans

Image
Today...hell froze over, pigs flew backwards in the rain and we JOGGED our first mile! 😳 For years Lauren and I made excuses about what hurt, we would say "Can't run...we have bad feet" or "My leg goes numb because my circulation is bad." What we are starting to realize very quickly is that a lot of these "I Can't" statements were formed as a coverup for what the real issue was...our unhealthy lifestyle.  Today was really my fault, the fact that Lauren and I ended up jogging outside...I had casually written on Facebook that we wanted to run the Savage Race in November and had been trying to get some people together for it. Well... someone  saw my post and when we showed up for training today...we knew something was up because Mark the Trainer put his head phones in...and let me just say..the only time we ever see him put his headphones in is when he's about to go run or workout. We immediately knew that today was not going to be easy and w...

The Beginning...

Nicole (left) and Lauren (right) Hello! This is us. And no, I don't mean the TV show, although we love it. We're Nicole and Lauren and we've created this blog to take you on our crazy fitness journey that began back in January. If your looking at our picture, you might be wondering, "Are these girls really fit?" One might not think so, but I'm here to tell you we've come a long way, but we're not done yet! So lets start at the beginning... Lauren and I have technically been working together for 3 years now. Our first encounter was actually a pretty brutal scavenger hunt which had me driving like a bat out of hell around our town. Crazy to think it would be another 2 years before we actually became friends (I'm pretty sure it was the driving that scared her away, although she denies it). We started hanging out in September 2016 when I was in need of a ride to work, and well, she happens to live close. After talking for about 15 minutes I i...
