SURPRISE!!!

Image
I AM NOT GOOD AT KEEPING SECRETS, BUT I DID IT! Lauren's 30th birthday was right after the last blog post, and I so desperately wanted to say something about our surprise for her, but couldn't! The weekend of her birthday, Lauren and I went shooting and while we were there I told her I had been given tickets to a show if she wanted to go, and of course she said yes. So that night we got dolled up and all of her family and friends surprised her at a local country bar! We had so much fun with everyone, and even got to drink a little. We were kinda excited about this until the next morning...when we remembered why we didn't miss drinking that much. Thanks everyone who made the night awesome, and helped me keep the secret!  Exorcist Hallway Exorcist Stairs To continue the birthday fun, we actually had a training session on Lauren's actual birthday. Mark the Trainer wanted to make it special, so we did an exorcist workout. If you don't remember, the exor...

Crazy Train

Image
Ok, so before you start yelling...we know it's been a while...3 weeks to be precise, but also understand that we are teachers and we're in the final weeks of school, so we apologize immensely, but we are on the CRAZY TRAIN . So you're probably asking yourself how much could actually happen in 3 weeks? The answer is A LOT! School is about to get out and so it's been amazing to think that we have officially been on this journey for a little less than 6 months! We weighed in this week and Lauren is officially down 53LBS!!!! I think we are starting to see the changes as well, which is exciting but can also be awkward because our brains haven't caught up yet. Sometimes we don't recognize ourselves when passing by a mirror and Lauren even lost me at the beach the other day and I was standing right in front of her!😂 Looking at pictures side-by-side is crazy. As our kids received their yearbooks this week, many of them made comments like "that's not you...

This Is How We Roll

Image
Ever wonder if it's possible to travel while still eating clean and healthy? The answer is mostly yes, but it's not easy! The two fit girls had to split apart this week as Nicole went on up to good ol' New Orleans for the weekend. Lauren held down the fort; quite literally, watching over Nicole's house and dog. Lauren had a whole new set of challenges she faced this week as well, the most prominent was being without Nicole for a whole 4 days (ok, maybe not, but Nicole would like to think so)!!! The week started out strong, working with Mark the Trainer on Monday and Wednesday. We got our butts kicked as usual, but we also learned a new skill....ROLLLINGGG... According to the Huffington Post, "foam rolling is a form of self-myofascial release, or self-massage, that gets rid of adhesions in your muscles and connective tissue. ... Foam rolling also increases blood flow to your muscles and creates better mobility, helping with recovery and improving performance....

It's Getting Hot in Here...

Image
So if you're not from Florida, IT'S HOT HERE AGAIN! Which is most of the year...and some people (like Lauren) love this, but I (Nicole) enjoy the summer and the warmth but still kinda wish it was cold. This change in weather is starting to make us think  a lot about summer and how desperate we are for it, but also how sweaty our workouts are about to become. Take today for example... we always run the trails on Sunday. It was nice and breezy until we got out there...that's when the wind died and the humidity seemed to set in. If you've never actually seen a hot mess, just look at us after that workout! Nicole (a few months ago) Lauren (a few months ago) Monday was flippin' awesome because we got to flip some tires and we love that. 😍 Like the trail, it's one of our dirtier workouts, which always make us happy! We also apologize for the crazy ass tan lines we will have by summer. It's just the name of the game at this point. We did a lot ...

Turning Can'ts into Cans

Image
Today...hell froze over, pigs flew backwards in the rain and we JOGGED our first mile! 😳 For years Lauren and I made excuses about what hurt, we would say "Can't run...we have bad feet" or "My leg goes numb because my circulation is bad." What we are starting to realize very quickly is that a lot of these "I Can't" statements were formed as a coverup for what the real issue was...our unhealthy lifestyle.  Today was really my fault, the fact that Lauren and I ended up jogging outside...I had casually written on Facebook that we wanted to run the Savage Race in November and had been trying to get some people together for it. Well... someone  saw my post and when we showed up for training today...we knew something was up because Mark the Trainer put his head phones in...and let me just say..the only time we ever see him put his headphones in is when he's about to go run or workout. We immediately knew that today was not going to be easy and w...
