SURPRISE!!!

I AM NOT GOOD AT KEEPING SECRETS, BUT I DID IT! Lauren's 30th birthday was right after the last blog post, and I so desperately wanted to say something about our surprise for her, but couldn't! The weekend of her birthday, Lauren and I went shooting and while we were there I told her I had been given tickets to a show if she wanted to go, and of course she said yes. So that night we got dolled up and all of her family and friends surprised her at a local country bar! We had so much fun with everyone, and even got to drink a little. We were kinda excited about this until the next morning...when we remembered why we didn't miss drinking that much. Thanks everyone who made the night awesome, and helped me keep the secret!

Exorcist Hallway
Exorcist Stairs
To continue the birthday fun, we actually had a training session on Lauren's actual birthday. Mark the Trainer wanted to make it special, so we did an exorcist workout. If you don't remember, the exorcist is a small, un-air-conditioned hallway and stairwell where people go to die! We remembered to take pictures and a video for you this time so that you can really grasp the torture. This was a group work out so we had to work together to get it done! There was a lot of stair climbing, planking, and lunges. At least we can say we're working on our ASSets.

We love to train together, but we also enjoy a couple of different group workouts throughout the week and we have really come to love them. It's not always the same people, and everyone is at a different place in their fitness journey, but we all compliment each other in some way, and always motivate each other. Last week we got to run together IN THE RAIN... we also did spider-man planks, calf raises, and hill runs. The next day we continued the running. The instructions were simple...run for 10 minutes straight, and at that point turn back around and make it back to the start in another 10 minutes. Sounds easy, but it can be a little tricky because you don't want to wear yourself out in the beginning but also don't want to sell yourself short by going slower than you should in the beginning. Still don't enjoy running yet, but we are getting better. After that run we did a series of circuits...burpees, jump roping, wall balls, kettle bell swings, and assisted PULL-UPS...Just with my help Lauren did a pull up, and visa versa! Our true goal is to do unassisted pull-ups, but we're on our way!

In the midst of all this adventure, Lauren ventured back to Texas to visit friends and family. We had a lot of fun packing for her trip, because all of a sudden our priorities are so different! We kept joking that the poor TSA agents that searched her bag might be a little confused...work out clothes, jump rope, 20 small baggies of protein powder, shaker bottles...they might think some crazy person owned the bag. Well the jury is still out on that one, but nothing got confiscated so that was good! Jump roping was a good option while Lauren was gone because you don't need a lot of space and it requires light packing.

While away, I was back home making bad decisions without my filter (Lauren) to save me! Don't worry...I didn't break the law or binge, I just got a puppy. Introducing Griffey...8 week old, 13 lb, Cinco de Mayo puppy!

We've been having so much fun this summer, but we also have to watch ourselves really closely because it would be easy to let things go, like our eating or workouts. Sometimes we get lax about things  and have to snap ourselves back to reality and remember the goals we have and are working so hard to achieve. We want to share our goals with you. Some are small...some are big...some have been accomplished...and some are going to take a while to achieve, but we are constantly adding to the list and working on them daily. These goals keep us accountable and looking forward to something.

As you can see, some goals are about weight, some are physical, some are simply things we have never been able to do because of our weight. They might not mean something to everyone, but to us, this is what we strive for every day. And although there are still a lot of unchecked boxes, we continue to get closer. I have to have them written down so I can look back over and over; if I just said it, I would forget. And we don't always succeed the first time.  For example, part of our group workout was doing a "ranger push-up" the other night and of course I had to try it, and I did...and I could't do it, but you better believe that it went on my goal list that night, and I'll be able to do it one day.😁

Don't forget to have fun and stay safe this 4th of July!
