Crazy Train
Ok, so before you start yelling...we know it's been a while...3 weeks to be precise, but also understand that we are teachers and we're in the final weeks of school, so we apologize immensely, but we are on the CRAZY TRAIN.
So you're probably asking yourself how much could actually happen in 3 weeks? The answer is A LOT! School is about to get out and so it's been amazing to think that we have officially been on this journey for a little less than 6 months! We weighed in this week and Lauren is officially down 53LBS!!!! I think we are starting to see the changes as well, which is exciting but can also be awkward because our brains haven't caught up yet. Sometimes we don't recognize ourselves when passing by a mirror and Lauren even lost me at the beach the other day and I was standing right in front of her!😂 Looking at pictures side-by-side is crazy. As our kids received their yearbooks this week, many of them made comments like "that's not you" or "hey, your were really fat!"... (kids say the darndest things) YA'LL...FOR REAL... look at these!!!! 😳😳😳
We have not only had the pleasure to work out with our kiddos at school, but have made some awesome new friends and acquaintances at the gym. It's amazing to be around like-minded, determined and focused people every day. The gym really is the place to make friends! Everyone Lauren and I have met are so kind, supportive, and encouraging. I keep telling Lauren this is where she is meant to meet her man one day. 😏 So with our new friends, we've been working a lot on strength training and cardio intervals. We all push each other and it's just so great to be with those kinds of people!
Lauren got the opportunity last week to travel this time. She got to go to SeaWorld with our 5th graders for their annual over-night trip. I have been on this trip before and it's amazing so I was so excited for her to go, but she was experiencing the same anxiety I had when going to New Orleans. She worried about what she would eat and how to
smuggle it all into the sea turtle exhibit where she would be sleeping! Lauren is a planner (unlike me) and so of course she did an amazing job packing her food and planning. So while the kids ate their pizza and ice-cream the first night, Lauren stayed strict and ate her chicken and peas. We have come to realize that peas are the easiest veggie to eat cold, so we tend to bring them a lot when we're in a rush or know we won't have a stove to heat anything up. And while Lauren was away...the kids played...I need no words for this video...if you have seen it yet, enjoy.
Well I think you're about all caught up on the lives of Nicole and Lauren in the gym...and although the gym is one of our favorite places...you have to get out and play as well! 2 more days of school and we can't wait to see what the summer holds!

PS: We might have watched a movie about a club and fighting that we enjoyed much more the second time around...but there are rules, and we won't talk about it.

Ok, so now that you're past the shock and awe... let's continue... another big milestone that we reached 2 weeks ago is that we ran our first straight mile without stopping! It was hot...sweaty...and not pretty, but we did it! Since then we've been running a couple of times a week and although we don't quite love running yet...we're hoping it's in the near future. I even got to run the mile with my kids at school which has been a huge goal of mine since I started on this journey and the kids loved it!
We also were able to get Trainer Mark out to our school to do structured PE with our kids. I think most of the kids thought that it would be a fun-filled gaming session, but they got quite the surprise when they got a kid-centered full blown Mark-the-Trainer training session! He had them doing lunges, running, wall squats, push-ups, and so much more! They had a blast and got a little glimpse into what their teachers do every day! The funniest part was the next day when they had their heads down telling us they were sore! "Welcome to my life kiddos"
